Exploding Sweet Taters

…with butter

Well, I blew the “daily posting” gig right outta the box, eh? I meant to do a post yesterday, but got all busy and shit with game day. I shall try to restart things today or tonight.

So, as mentioned above, yesterday was game day here at Casa Cross. It has been over a month since we last roleplayed, plus we have lost two of our players, so I decided to end the first series of “The Magic Returns”. We had left off on a great climactic cliffhanger, so it really only took about half an hour to wrap things up, then give the players a quick review of what happened in the characters lives after they saved the kobold nation from the goblins and orcs. Short form: Over the next 50 years they became powerful and famous, but all ended up behind a desk doing high level government shit. After retiring at age 75 or so, they gathered up a band of explorers and rode into the unexplored east…and into legend.

The next series will start in about a month. The PCs will be anthropomorphic otters who work for the Royal Secret Service in their homeland. Each player is a spy, but they are also: a Mage (Paul), a Thief (Sam) and a Fighter (Arn)…and then they are also travelling salespeople/entertainers, selling textiles and tools, because that is their cover. Their homelands culture is a mix of Arabian Nights, Pirates, typical pseudo European FRPG world and Wind In The Willows. The nearest other cultures is made up of anthropomorphic badgers, whose culture is a mix of cinematic Vikings and the Wild West.

The rules system is OSRIC, a very close replication of 1st Edition AD&D. Since the thrust of this campaign is low on monsters & dungeons and high on intrigue and covert ops, the Experience Points will come from roleplaying and successful mission completion. And selling lots of textiles & tools:)

And now, I’m off to a doctor appointment. More stuff later.
