Our sweet old girl, Sasha, died today after a short bout with liver failure. Grace and I were with her as our vet helped her go.
Sasha was with us longer than any of our other dogs, 10 years and 16 days. She was in really good health right up until about the last week or so. She was 13 years old.
Sasha was stubborn, sweet, sneaky, and loving. She was the alpha dog from about a week after she came to live here in January of 2012.
Someday, I will expand this to include more about her, but today, with our house dogless for the first time since 2006, this is all I can manage. I will grieve and slowly heal.
Goodbye, Babydog. You were the very best.
Update From July 3, 2022: It has been almost 5 months since Sasha died, and we now have Yoyo and Duke. This has healed our hearts immensely, but we still miss our girl.
Update From May 18, 2023: I am still not able to add more to this post. I’m not sure I ever will be.
Update From January 18, 2026: It’s been 4 years as of today. We still miss her and talk about her often.
