Critter Con 15

Trip Day 6, Con Day One: In which we recap a party, are joined by an Auntie, get our geek on, and do a pub crawl.

Hi folks, Cupcake here. For a bunch of reasons, Grandpa didn’t want to write the daily con reports this year. I’m sure you’ll understand. The con has a ton of memories for him and he’s trying to keep really busy, so as to hold them off.

That being the case, we critters are taking over writing the actual daily con recaps. There is precedent for this, because in 2018, critters wrote the entire trip/con report, with the exception of the intro.

So, to get things rolling, I’m going to cover last night’s party.

As always, the con staff had about a zillion kinds of bourbon, plus other drinks for those of us who don’t like bourbon or alcohol. There was also a big bag of cannabis edibles, which some of us partook of.

(Blue: In other words, they got totally baked.)

There was also a ton of different flavors of ice cream. We also partook of that.

The party was large, noisy and had 2 different bands playing. It was a lot of fun. I danced quite a bit. I also talked to members of the Gorilla City Gaming Group, who I have not seen in about 6 months. The party busted up at 1:00 AM, and we all stumbled back to our rooms.

(Yoyo: Stumbled is right. Dad was pretty drunk.)

(Lettie: Mom and Auntie Ginie don’t drink much, or eat edibles, so they were sober.)

(Roxy: Although they did stumble a bit because they are not kids anymore. Heeheehee.)

(Leon: Mom & Auntie Ginie, please note that the good son/nephew did NOT make that joke.)

This morning, after we were all more or less awake, Auntie Pixie portaled in from home to join us. Pix has been getting her head straight after months of hard partying (she was Mom’s lifetime best friend), and we did not think she was going to be here this year. We are very glad she is, though.

I now hand off the daily recap of geekery to Leon.

Hi there, everyone! Because I’m a relaxed sort of writer…

(Lettie: Meaning he’s lazy.)

…I’m going to let everyone tell us what they did today.

(Yoyo: I played in a short minis wargame with Leon and 4 other people. I was playing a squad of Fox Infiltrators working with Leon’s Baboon Infantry. We almost one, but the Tigers had held back explosives and they blew us up. After that, I went and played boardgames until lunch, which was at Killerburger with Mom, Auntie Mary, and Auntie Pixie. When we were done there, I played in a D&D game until almost dinnertime.)

(Duke: I played Toon with Dad, Aunties Avis & Ginie, Cakes, a really nice goat named Delores, two bunnies named Herb & Spice, and a human named Bob. It was fun! Then, Dad, Cakes, and I went and ate pizza. Then, I went in the dealers room with Cakes & Tuck and we played demo games and bought stuff.)

(Lettie: Roxy and I played in a 6 hour all feline LARP, “The Mystery of the Red House.” There was a lunch break, catered by Something Fishy. The Mystery never got solved. After that, we toured Artist Alley, then returned to the suite for naps before dinner.)

(Tuck: Mostly hung out with Dukie and Cakes.)

(Blue: Omar and I ran an all raccoon LARP for 7 hours because we are insane. We ate lunch at Moses & Jeff’s Texas Brewpub.)

(Pixie: I mostly played boardgames all day, although I did go to the Cosplay Hall for a while.)

(Amy: Mara and I mostly just toured the con, although she did present a seminar on “Real Mad Science In Your Game.”)

(Leon: After the minis game, I took a nap, then played a bunch of the new “Cat Magic” card game. Then I took another nap.)

Note: Uncle Doc ran 2 Toon games and was on the panel for the first of 3 “15 Years of CritterCon”. Uncle Spike ran a Mutants & Masterminds game, then was on the same panel. Mom and Aunties Grace, Ginie & Mary did lots of con stuff. And now, back to Cakes.

Thanks, Leon. Well, we are near to leaving for dinner at Mistress Diana’s Dungeon Diner, with about 20 other people. That should be interesting for those of us who understand human sexuality.

After dinner, it’s time for the humans, and Duke, to do the annual Pub Crawl, which this year has an RPG theme. For we NHT, there is a similar event, which this year is card game oriented. We’ll report on them tomorrow.
