Sister Bomia’s Adventure Diary

Our Return To Daylight…And Birds

Catsday 2, Roc Month, Year 25 of the Golden Emperor

Dear Diary,

We woke up this morning to two wonderful things. First was the smell of freshly brewed Theskian tea. We have not had it in a couple of weeks, but Amella found a large tin of it in her Pouch of Surprising Capacity. It was SO good.

The second wonderful thing was the sound of birds. Lots of birds. This area, though lightly wooded, seems to be home to several species of small birds. The surrounding grassland is a dining area foe large flock of a different species. Those look a lot like Green Fieldbirds, but are somewhat larger and have bright yellow on their tails and wings.

The sound of birds singing and fresh tea was certainly a blessing and once breakfast was done, I spent an hour thanking the Mother Goddess. After that, we all agreed that today would be a day of rest. Most of us just spent the day doing nothing in particular. Halana went hunting for an hour and came back with a small antelope of some sort. As I write this, a hearty stew is cooking.

A few minutes ago, Olivia used a Levitation spell to lift Amella about 500 feet into the air. She reports that between us and the mountains there is a city. She could not tell if it was inhabited. To the north there is nothing but the endless sea of grass, punctuated by smallish woodlands like this. South, she saw more grassland, but also the faintest glint of what might be sunshine off of water.

At this point, the remains of the Great Road are hard to see, but seem to run toward the city. Amella estimates it is at least a 2 day walk from here. So, one more night of rest and we are on our way in the morning, Diary. I’ll write more soon.
