“I think you may be onto something, Ala. It would make sense. I think we might want to talk to Dree at dinner tonight. He’s treading on dangerous ground.”
Now Ala was worried. How could a lone boy survive a long journey to find something the Museum was very anxious to get? There were so many things that might happen.
“So you think we should talk him out of it?” She hoped Bevan would say yes, but then he shook his head.
“Not at all. Anything that deprives the Museum of something they want is a noble mission. I reckon I’d have to throw in with him on it.”
Ala felt her guts clench up. That voice in her head was drowning out almost everything now. She was standing at a fork in the road and it was time to make a choice. She needed to think.
