366 Days, 366 Paragraphs: #252

“The nearest Road is less than a mile from here. About three miles east is a tiny Town that we’ll avoid by going north for a few miles. Then we’ll turn east again. Not much chance of encountering a Seeker, so we’ll travel that way for two or three days before we find another Road for you and a Town for Dree. After that, we’ll think about what to do next.”

Ala and Dree were alright with that plan, even though nobody had mentioned that they might be entering tiger territory. The plains were giving way to light woodlands with plenty of brush, a type of terrain the big cats liked. Of course, traveling on the plains would mean lions and bears, wolves and wolfdogs were everywhere, so it was sort of a “choose your predator” deal.

As soon as they finished eating, they saddled up and were on their way. It was going to be another warm spring day and Dree figured that once they reached the Road, he would look inside the bundle Greaty had given him.

When they reached the Road and turned east, Dree took out Greaty’s letter and began to read it.
