Smells Like Toon Spirit: Norman & Walter
On Earth 1-C, in the 1940s, Warner Brothers made 5 cartoons starring a pair of ghosts named Norman and Walter. They were pretty on target spoofs of Bob Hope & Bing Crosby in the “Road” movies they were making over at Paramount. The gags were similar, there was always a female ghost in the Dorothy Lamour role, and Walter frequently broke the fourth wall, as Hope often did. The cartoons were very popular.
