11 Things You Should Tell Your Dog

…1 through 6: good dog!

CritterCon#19

The Wedding Edition

Dedicated to the memory of Rosie Cross: sister, mom, auntie, friend.

Day Zero

My friends, this year’s trip, and especially the con we are heading to, is pretty much guaranteed to be the craziest yet.

You see, my middle grandchild, Tucker Amelia Cross, former pitbull and now human, announced in January that she and her longtime boyfriend Evan were going to get married. Below, the text she sent me then…

Tucker: “Evan and I are going to get married this summer. Big human traditional, but multicultural. Kilts/puffy sleeved shirts/colorful Chucks on all guys, full Desi for all women, Bollywood/R&B/Swing music by Dukee and his band, hella international food and drink.

We want you to officiate, in Klingon.

Blue will dance with me down the aisle.

Skateboard flyover by Yoee and crew.

Date and Location TBA.

We love you and Grandma.

T&E”

Okay, so right off the bat, this looked to be way up on the Cross Family Weird Shit List, and that’s saying something. But wait, because it gets better. On May 6th, she texted out this…

Tucker: “Change of plans…moving wedding to CritterCon.”

And then the entire family, most of our friends, the CritterCon Committee, and 350,000 CritterCon attendees freaked the fuck out. The con added a fifth day and expanded the venue just for the wedding, almost 100,000 more people signed up for the con, Yoyo expanded the skateboard flyover to 300 boarders and 300 “fireworks” drones, and our trip concept completely changed.

It has been a madhouse around here.

But in a few hours, just after 4:00 AM on Friday the 17th, we will be leaving Sacramento to start our trip.

This year’s On Bus crew is…

Me

Grace

Yoyo

Grindy

Duke

Sunny

Annie

Blue, Mara & their kids

Buck, Cakes & the twins.

The Guinea Pigs Three (Hermione, Gini, and Luna)

Ruzio, Hermione’s boyfriend, an anthro capybara

Honey, Luna’s wolf friend

Spike, Mary, Avis, Gini, Letty, Gabriel, and other friends

So, a very full house. I am expecting shenanigans and wackiness.

Note: Yoyo & Duke have hired staff to run their company booths so they and their teams can mostly just do con stuff like seminars, autographs, demos, bigass weddings, etc.

Our Route This Year: At first, it was going to be mostly along Route 66, but as of 10 days ago, it changed to “Spin The Wheel Of Times and Routes”, so we have no fucking idea. The first wheel spin will take place once everyone else is awake and up at 7:00 AM. Until then, I’ll be driving along I-80 like it’s a normal trip.

One other thing, folks. This year, we’ll be a bit less verbose and pretty much just cover the high points of the days, not just for the trip, but for the wedding and con, too. And I won’t be the only one commenting.

More bloggage later.
