1: Head west on the interstate. It’s late, so traffic will be pretty light and you can make good time IF Moran doesn’t alert all his paid highway cops.
2: Cross the bridge and head nort, toward Canada. You can make it in maybe 10 hours. Of course, Moran’s boys know upstate roads and you might catch some questions at the border.
3: Do the unexpected and head to the docks and steal Moran’s boat. Sure, it’s only 4 blocks from his house, but he won’t expect it and the only person guarding the boat is old Jimmy Socks, and that old rummy will be passed out drunk by now.

1: Tell her you bought all those books at half price and then ASAP borrow half the money you actually spent. Maybe from Carlos or Pat.
2: Just put half the books on a shelf and show her the rest and pray she doesn’t ask questions. Maybe ask her where she wants to go eat dinner.
3: Be straight with her, then if she wants to lecture you, bring up that big bunch of yarn she bought last week.
