People You Might Meet: Mama Robles

Realities Where Most Often Encountered: Any Earth in the 1730s to the 1890s where there is real low level magic

Nobody knows anything about Mama Robles. Her age is difficult to judge. Shecould be 40 after a hard few decades or she could be 70 after a good life. She does not discuss her family except to note that she has many children and nieces and nephews. She will often tell stories about them, although they do not live “around here”.

Mama Robles can be found anywhere in the world where there is a large hispanic population, but is usually found in Mexico or California. She lives among the common people, most of whom think she is a bruja, a witch.

They are mostly correct. Mama Robles can manipulate matter and energy in small ways to heal, harm or make changes to people and animals. She has done everything from help women give birth to causing an evil landowner to experience a lack of ability in the bedroom until he treated people better.

Mama Robles is not a particularly religious woman, which puts her at odds with the Catholic Church, who rightfully think she is leading parishioners away from the faith. Unfortunately, the Church has yet to find a way to silence her…or a way to prevent her from retaliating when they try.

Realities Where Most Often Encountered: Any Mars after terraforming has taken place and Old Martians have awakened

Once humans terraformed Mars to a point where there was plentiful surface water all year, the Old Martians began to awaken. A plant based lifeform, they had waited beneath the surface for half a billion years to be reborn.

One of these Old Martians is Kulvikan, a devoted student of humans and their lifestyles. He much prefers the company of humans to that of his fellow Martians. Kulvikan often takes jobs alongside humans because he learns a great deal from people at work. Just the talk back and forth between co-workers is enough to help him write a book.

Kulvikan looks a great deal like a 6 foot tall stalk of broccoli with 3 tendril arms and a multitude of rootfeet. He is a curious, but polite being with a rather odd sense of humor.
