The Alphabet, Female Name Edition: Ivy
.
16 year old Ivy Ellerson, of Red Deer, Alberta, Canada, has been 16 for a while. Like, three years. She was 13,14 &15 for 2 years each and may well be 17 for as long as 4 years. 18 and 19 are unknown, but probably going to be about of 5 years each, according to her mother.
You see, Ivy’s great grandmother was cursed by one of the last real witches on Earth to suffer a very long puberty. Great Granny’s puberty lasted for 29 years, from 12 to 20. Granny got 27 years. Ivy’s mom had a 26 year puberty. Ivy is looking at 23 or so years.
As you can imagine, it’s not fun. Acne, body aches, emotions going haywire, and all the other crap that puberty brings. Now add to that the constant need to move every couple of years, not being able to make long term friendships, and the fact that you are mentally way ahead of other teens. As Ivy often says, it’s a sucky life.
The curse will vanish on her 20th birthday and Ivy has no plans to pass it on to another generation, so as soon as the curse is gone, she will be getting sterilized. And if she ever adopts any children, they will all be boys.

The Alphabet, Female Name Edition: Janeesah
.
Captain Janeesah Wilde, of the Solar Alliance Ship Kamala Harris, is one of the oldest captains in the fleet at 45. Most captains transfer to a desk job at Alliance HQ by about 40.
Wilde says she would go crazy behind a desk. Besides, she loves patrolling the Kuiper Belt and searching for any illegal activities. During her most recent 3 year cruise, Captain Wilde and the Harris have encountered the alien Chedri four times, more than any other ship. None of the encounters lasted more than a few minutes before the Chedri “bubble ships” vanished, but they did serve to establish that the Chedri are not aggressive.
Among her 900 person crew, Janeesah is highly regarded and respected. Her bridge crew has stuck with her for the past 11 years that she has commanded the Harris. Several of her former officers have gone on to outstanding careers.
In her spare time, Captain Wilde enjoys playing RPGs, reading early 20th century detective novels and playing with her cat, Mooch.
