Ala was a touch sad to see Blue Tree come into view. This had been her most enjoyable hauling job since she had started as a Trucker. Now, more than ever, she wanted to get out in the world and see new things. The rebellious little voice in her head was now running a constant monologue about selling the rig and telling father to find a new Trucker. Half of her was hoping it would shut up after a good meal and a night of sleep. The other half, not so much.
“It’s not as small as I expected”, Bevan observed as the next hill blocked the Town from view. “Most Towns on the edge of the bison range are pretty small. Looks like Blue Tree has at least four Streets.”
Ala nodded. “Yep, four streets east/west, six north/south. It’s larger than most due to there only being one Town along the raised Road that starts a few miles west of here. 300 miles of raised Road and only one tiny Town smack in the middle of it. People coming from the east stop here to stock up and those coming from the west are glad to see civilization again.”
