She had never been out on the raised Road, but she knew a bunch of folks who had. It was a lonely stretch, which was why so many people chose the longer, but much more populated Kansa or Oklatex stretches to travel on. The scenery was pretty boring, but you could find a small Town every twenty miles or so. Again, this was nothing she had any real first hand knowledge of, that voice in her head reminded her.

“How big is Omha”, Bevan asked her. “I haven’t been that far east yet. Biggest City I’ve seen is Denva. It’s got four Circle Roads and is about three miles across. Two main stretches of Road cut through it, north/south and east/west. I think there must be a hundred thousand folks living there.”

“Omha is a whole lot bigger than that. Nine Circle Roads, about twenty miles across and four main Roads going through it. The last time I heard, the population was right near half a million. My family is mostly on Circle Nine, with all of the other Trucking families and the Wanderer caravans. Further in, the Townies live pretty close together in building as tall as seven stories high.”

Bevan gave out a whistle. Seven stories was higher than any building he had ever seen. It would be something to see.
