The High Curator paused in his stroll. This was something different for the Grand High Curator. Was he perhaps thinking of using this Trainee as an assassin? Not a chance. The Grand High Curator did not work that way. A stealthy spy? Possible, but very dangerous if she was caught. What, then, might he be using her for? This was an unknown factor and Porcero hated unknown factors. Not an infiltrator, not a killer…what could he be using her for?
He looked at his agent. “You said she was good at maze running. How good is she?”
While simulating the act of reading a boring request for a meeting time change, the agent replied, “Very good. In fact, she has held the record for the last four years. Is that meaningful, Master?” The agent was thinking that something new and exciting might be afoot, not that the Master would let anything stop the Righteous Mission.
“I think perhaps it is, he said slowly. The Grand High Curator might be planning a theft or two from the tunnels. There are certain documents in the Sealed Library that he might want to have a look at. Rather than have the Council vote on it, which could take weeks, he could have his agent break in, get what he needs and then replace them later with nobody being the wiser. A clever plan and those documents, though quite old, might just have some information he could use.”
