Chapter Eighteen: Golta, The Gossip
Twenty two year old Golta Gernsmak had always been a gossip. When she was small, she would run to tell the mothers what the other children had done. As she got older, she learned to relay only the juiciest gossip to friends & neighbors. Of course, actual truth didn’t matter much in gossip, but if something was true, that made it extra good. True gossip often generated more of the same as facts were revealed. She recalled how it had been when the news came out that Mr. Kalmor had been consorting with women in three different Towns behind his wife’s back. That had lead to finding out that Mrs. Kalmor had been dallying with two other men here in Blue Tree and two Roadies who passed through on a regular basis. Yes, the Kalmor situation had been the only gossip for a whole month.
