It was nearing time for Bevan to get off work and Ala had made up her mind about her future. Duty to family and fear of the unknown had won out again. She would go get the wagon and leave Town in a few minutes. She had left a note for Bevan with Mrs. Brunfelder, telling him goodbye and asking him to explain things to Dree.
She felt terrible and was doing less than her best at holding back tears. The voice in her head that had been urging her to go out and travel was silent. She doubted that she would ever take another run to Blue Tree again, and father be cursed.
