This bestselling collection of 15 very dangerous quests for ant roleplaying system started out, as a surprising number of RPG products do, as a chaotice discussion by a bunch of intoxicated/stoned RPG designers and writers at a convention.
The basic premise, as the few unintoxicated writers recall, was “Would the gaming public buy a book of adventures with a very high chance of a Total Party Kill and a very low chance of any meaningful loot?”
Apparently, they would, because when the collection appreared the next summer at HugeCon, it sold 10,000 copies in 4 days. When it hit stores a weeklater, it sold 50,000 copies in 6 months. Seven years later, it still sells around 3,000 copies a year.
