Unusual Small Towns: Nazood City
Nazoods are enormous creatures, fully two miles long and half a mile wide. The look like some sort of gigantic flatworm, since they are only about 30 feet thick. They move from north to south and back again across the Great Central Plain of the Brentakken continent on Fantasy Earth 16-H. Since they only move at about 2 miles per hour, the round trip takes most of a year. The great herd numbers about 100 individuals. The debate over Nazood intelligence has yet to come to any conclusions. Nazoods seem to live about 400 years.
At some point about 1,000 years ago, a large number of halflings decided that riding on a Nazood beat the hell out of walking the north/south route, so they climbed up onto the back of one, finding it amazingly stable, they pitched their tents and relaxed. Before they reached the southern terminus of the migratory route, they had decided to build more permanent structures to live in. The rest is history.
Today, Nazood City takes up much of the backs of three of the largest creatures. Travelers and tourists are plentiful, so the halflings do well financially. So far, the Nazood seem okay with the whole thing.
