Mistakes Were Made: The Birthday Error
In September of 1988, my friend Jack set up a surprise birthday party for his wife, Mindy. He went all out, inviting about 100 people to a fancy banquet hall, getting balloons and banners printed up and finally, getting a very fancy cake made. Like the balloons and banners, the cake said “Happy 40th Birthday, Mindy!”
Except that Mindy was only turning 38. She was not amused.
Jack was able to fully get back on her good side after only 6 months, a new car, and a trip to Paris.
