Mistakes Were Made: The Love Offering Attempt

Andy Young was 16 and crazy in love with Jennifer Greene. She felt the same as he did, and they had been going steady for 3 months now. It was typical teenage love.

Which is why, one warm spring night at around 11:00 PM, Andy brought his guitar and a song he had written for Jennifer, took up a place about 15 feet from her bedroom window, and began playing and singing.

He played and sang his heart out, knowing she could hear him through her opened windows. He sang of her beauty, her intelligence, her kindness, and her sweet kisses. He knew that she was lying there in the dark enjoying it. Maybe even crying a bit.

After about 6 minutes of delivering his musical love letter, Andy stopped and said, “I love you, Jenny!”

And then the lights came on, revealing her parent’s bedroom and with the entire family, except for Jennifer, standing there, applauding.

In later years, Andy would laugh about his little mistake. About 30 years later, to be exact.
