The Alphabet Bestiary: D Is For…Dirt Eels
Name: Dirt Eels
Type: Amphibious
Size: Small, 2-4 feet long
Habitat: Moist to wet soil in temperate climates
General Information: While not dangerous, Dirt Eels can be annoying because they live in very large groups and will swarm all around anything that disturbs the soil they live in. Sometimes they may nip exposed flesh, too.
The biggest hazard of Dirt Eels is that so many other creatures eat them, thus increasing chances of a more dangerous encounter. This might include anything from a racccoon or skunk to a quill bear or terror bird.
Although Dirt Eels look very much like regular eels, and they are edible, be advised that the Adventurers Guild rates them as a “this or starvation” food source.
