Seven Dungeons To Avoid: The Dungeon Out Of Time
From “Notes On A Dungeon Search”, by Arvin Koldos
12/3/874: Having left the Great Swamp behind us, we are now half a day into the Northern Prairie of Plon. After the perils of the swamp, the peace of the grassland is most welcome.
12/5/874: Great news today! Falz tells us that his morning vision saw the Low Temple of Huztok no more than three days away to the northeast. He is certain of the distance, but did say that the focus of the temple was not ideal.
12/8/874: We have arrived at the temple and I must say it is not impressive. Brother Warwick says it may well be thousands of years old, thus explaining the weathered look of it. Falz asked us if we could feel the waves of power eminating from it, and indeed, we can. I cannot begin to describe the sensation. Lord Javin has declared that we 6 adventurers will enter in the morning, while our 5 assistants stay outside with the horses. I am ready to explore!
12/9/874: We have been in this dungeon several hours now and, aside from the extremely odd architecture and a few strange skeletons of various creatures, it seems rather unimpressive. Lord Javin has told us we will leave after this short rest. None of us argued with that choice, although Falz has said that she feels something is off.
Date Unknown: I am not sure how long we have been down here. Minutes? Days? I think we slept for a bit at one point. We have yet to find the door to return us to our time. To explain, when we went to leave, we encountered doors and hallways that were not there before. The one we took lead us outside to a time and place we knew not. The moon was enormous in the sky and huge and horrible creatures were everywhere. We ran back inside and regrouped, then tried another door. That put us 1,500 years in our past, during the Giant VS Dragon Wars that ravaged half our planet.
Again and again we tried doors that lead us to terrifying times or places, some of which were not even our world, but some unspeakable nightmare place. We have lost two of our party, and Lord Javin looks to be barely in command of his sanity.
And now we go to try another door.
12/9/874: We are free of the madness that was that unholy place. Only Falz and I survived, with Lord Javin and Truntaron being pulled through a door by some sort of tentacled ooze. We escaped by diving through another door, then finding ourselves a few yards from our camp and surrounded by assistants who swore we were gone no more than an hour.
We left the area as soon as they could pack everything up. We proceed west at all due speed.
