When “Clue”, with a hilarious cast and that multiple ending gimmick, hit big in 1985, the studio beganplanning a sequel. Unfortunately, they couldn’t get a few of the original cast (Curry, Brennan, Kahn) due to scheduling, so they added three more comic actors and started on the script. Almost immediately, the decision was made not to have the same characters, so as to allow people to return in future sequels.
Clue At Sea was another big hit, as were the next two (both having Curry and Kahn), but by the 5th film, which had none of the original cast, public tastes had drifted and it was only a modest hit. The series ended, but in 2022 a series reboot was announced. The new “Clue” will be out in late 2025.
