With the exception of the names and closer release dates, the first two Ghostbeaters movies on Earth 1-P were identical to the versions we know. The third one, with all the original cast, was made only after Bill Murphy agreed to a much larger paycheck and script approval. The movie was funny and made a bundle, but Murphy and the rest of the cast called it quits after that.
Fast forward 30 years and the original writers and director decide to reboot, the series with an all new cast of female Ghostbeaters made up of the daughters of the originals. Earth 1-P being much less of a patriarchy than our world, the movie was a huge success, as were the next two. The original guys even returned for the second one.
Another Ghostbeaters movie, “Ghostbeaters: Happy Zuuloween!”, is scheduled for the fall of 2028.
