Too Many Porcupines

…it was three

We now come to Umdelo, which is 56 million miles from the sun. Like Foleth, it is a hot world. Unlike Foleth, it has an atmosphere and enough of magnetosphere to deflect most of the solar wind. Still, at an average of 140 degrees Celsius, it is far too hot for most lifeforms. Add to that the lack of much water anywhere except the poles and things get even worse. The 80 discovered lifeforms found at the poles are all microscopic plants and animals living in a very closed ecosystem.

Umdelo is slightly larger than Earth by about 3%. An Umdelo year is 231 Standard days and an Umdelo day is 1.65 Standard days long. The atmosphere is mostly carbon dioxide and nitrogen.

Most of Umdelo is a Galactic Historical Preserve due to ruins of the S’miLaa species, who died out roughly 300,000 years ago. They left behind enormous cities and military bases.Tours to visit the planet are available. Ask the concierge about them when we return to base.
