Red Feather Gang Profiles: Big Lee

On the one hand, Big Lee could look like a big, cold, intimidating black crime lord, something he did when new recruits were approved.
On the other hand, he was usually a successful and outrageous drag queen and a trained in Hollywood makeup artist. This talent was used by the gang when one of them, usually Smooth or the California Kid, needed a good temporary face.
Big Lee could have been a legit actor, but didn’t have the temperment for “Hollywood bullshit.” He did, however, enjoy his stints as “Mr. Jax.”
During those gigs, Lee would sit behind a fancy desk and look impassive as The Kid introduces the new year’s crew. Lee would ask them some questions, then explain to them how they could never discuss their criminal career with anyone, because the punishment was death.
Then, to seal the deal on their silence, a “member of last year’s crew” would be brought out and “killed” for having loose lips. The Kid would then point out that they were all now accessories to murder, so everything depended upon their never speaking of what just happened. It was an extremely effective ruse.
After these sessions, Lee would collect his pay and then he, The Kid, and Smooth (the usual murder victim) would go out to eat.
In his daily life, Big Lee was a loving father to two daughters, a great husband to Vanda, and a tireless promoter of civil rights.
