Alt. Cross Family Dogs: Daisy Ann
Full Name: Daisy Ann Cross
Breed: Springer Spaniel
When Roscoe turned 13, in we knew he wouldn’t have too many years left, so we took our girls, ages 8, 6, 6, and 3, to a shelter to look at another dog. There were two 8 month old puppies there that were bonded. The girls fell in love with them and Daisy Ann & Winker came home with us.
Daisy was a sporty kind of girl, always up to play fetch or run around the back yard like a crazy dog, being chased by 4 little girls. She could not be trusted around any food she could reach, and she could reach places you wouldn’t expect. We once found her on top of the fridge eating bread we thought was safe. She knocked part of the bread onto the floor for Roscoe and Winker.
She got along well with Roscoe, who had slowed down a bit in his old age. When he died, she and Winker laid beside him to say goodbye.
Daisy had ear issues, as do many floppy eared dogs. She also once broke her right front leg jumping off the kid’s playhouse. And she got sprayed by skunks twice.
Daisy lived to be 14, when a liver infection got the better of her. She’s buried next to Winker under a pair of rose bushes in our front yard.
