Alt. Cross Family Dogs: Luke
Full Name: Luke Skywalker Cross
Breed: Standard Poodle
Seven year old Luke was Silky’s soulmate, but in many ways quite different from her. Although a poodle, most of his hunting instincts leaned toward barking at birds, especially the world famous Telegraph Hill Parrots, who would visit us from time to time. He was pretty neutral about cats.
Despite being one of the smartest breeds of dog, Luke was given to being a huge nut. One of his favorite activities was waging war with the blankets on his bed, which often resulted in him being wrapped up in them to the point of needing help to escape. He also had many opinions about animals on television, especially on nature programs.
Luke was accident prone, and had several trips to the vet for bumps, bruises, scrapes and upset tummies from eating who knows what. This banging around probably contributed to the arthritis that started showing up when he was 10. by the time he was 11, he was walking a lot slower and having less accidents, which was good.
When Silky died, Luke just lost his will to live. He died a month after she did. We buried him next to her. At just over 5 years, they were the dogs who were with us the shortest time
