Pirates Of The Circle Sea: Mr. Loorkas
(Note to roleplayers: These characters have no numbers assigned, but I do use various words to denote abilities, skills, etc )
Ulver Loorkas left home for a life on the sea at the tender age of eight. A child from the streets of Kuldeen, he was already an accomplished thief and burglar when he signed on as a gunner’s apprentice on the merchant brig, Pride of Vendoon. His first two voyages were boring affairs filled with plenty of gunnery drills. On the third trip out, all of that training came into play when they were attacked by Boradite pirates off Black Pig Island.
After a short, but heated battle, the Boradites boarded the Pride of Vendoon and began looting her. They also started marooning the crew on Black Pig Island. Always the survivor, young Ulver declared that he thought the pirate life was for him and could the Cap’n use a gunner’s apprentice or a cabin boy?
The Boradite captain was amused by this youngling, so he gave him a post on the deck division. Over the next three years, Ulver learned all there was to know about the life and duties of a deckhand and a pirate. By the time he left the Boradites (at a time when their ship was being blown to pieces in Port Dismal by two Ralvinnian men ‘o war) he was a pirate through and through, but had some ideas on how to become better, so over the course of the next 15 years he joined, served in and then deserted from 6 of the world’s great navies. He would learn the ins and outs of each one, then move on to the next. By anyone’s estimation, he has an excellent knowledge of the world’s navies.
Ulver then signed on with the renowned pirate captain, Black Gim Wallix, where he rose to the position of Boatswain, a job he very much enjoyed. As a pirate, Mr, Loorkas was very good with a sword or pistol and was excellent at finding treasure that wily merchants tried to hide.
After 10 years of serving with Captain Wallix, he left to join the crew of the Ravaging Shark, captained by Rokbus Vell, the father of his current captain. He has a very fatherly affection for Aksima and she looks upon him as a wise and loyal uncle.
Ulver Loorkas is 5’11” tall and weighs 190 pounds. He is 52 years old, with graying brown hair, green eyes and a tattoo of a Boradite Swamp Python circling his neck. He also has 15 other tattoos and more scars than you can count. While working, he is loud, profane and tough. After hours, he is a fairly jolly fellow who enjoys telling his many tales of a life at sea. He has never been “actually” married, but still allows as how he is father to “enough kids to man a Corcoronite battleship and still have enough left over to man a Jeonian galleon that would outrun it.”
