Lost Movies of Earth 2-B: Hank and Earl Back On The Farm (1948)

This was the last film in the popular “Hank and Earl’ series of 6 films. These comedies from Columbia Studious followed the misadventures of Hank Grover, played by Paul Dibbs, and Earl Munk, played by John Kessler, two Oklahoma farm boys with good hearts and a knack for getting over on city slickers. From the first entry, the 1941 “Hank and Earl Go To Town”, audiences loved them. They made a lot of money for Columbia.

“Back on the Farm” saw the boys home from the war in Europe just in time to save two farms from unscrupulous bankers. It was the biggest moneymaker of the series. It was also the last, because Dibbs & Kessler left Columbia to do television.

Sadly, this film and the second in the series “Hank and Earl go to New York”, were both lost to the 1950 Pittsburg Film Warehouse Fire.
