Chapter One: Offroad
Bevan was hot, tired and bleeding pretty freely from a gash in his hip when the Road came into view. The tiger that had attacked him and his friends had been very good at laying an ambush, as such creatures usually are. It hadn’t hurt the great cat’s chances of success that he, Walen and Safiq has been so busy plotting out their visit to the next town that they had forgotten to pay attention to the world around them. They had ignored one of the oldest adages of the Offroaders: “When you are in unfamiliar territory, speak less and look more”.
