…it was strange treasure

A couple of hours later, just as Dree was returning with a cartload of ceramic mugs that Miss Jurdenfal, the local potter, apparently made out of the heaviest clay on earth, a Roadie lady and an Offy man walked into the inn together. They made an interesting pairing, and not just because of their relation to the Road. The man was maybe six foot two and had the sort of golden tan you often saw on Offroaders. His hair was long, way below his shoulders and light brown. His eyes were a deep blue and he had Offy tattoos on his face and hands. Dree thought he looked pretty friendly, which wasn’t always the case with Offys who came into Town.
The Roadie woman was taller than the man by a good three inches. She was just as muscular looking as he was, but had very dark brown skin, almost black. Her hair was long and very curly and her lips were big and full. She had large brown eyes and three earrings in each ear. Her hands looked rough. She had a strange look on her face, kind of happy, but also kind of nervous. Dree just chalked that up to her being an adult. Adults often looked strange for no good reason.
As he put the mugs in the kitchen, Dree thought of those two people. Were they friends? Maybe some sort of business partners? It was highly doubtful that a Roadie and an Offy would be married, although Dree had heard that sometimes Townies married Roadies. He was unsure how that worked out.
