The Offroader stopped eating and looked at the boy. He recognized the look on his face, because he had seen it on the Walen’s face a couple of days before they had decided to leave their family and start traveling on their own.
“I might say that hitting the Road or going Offroad is a dangerous thing for anybody, but especially a Townie. While an Offroader is never far from a way to leave the Road and the Roadbound can usually plot a course that will not keep them too many days from the Road, should they need to leave it, Townfolk must find a Town or they’ll sicken and die. And there are places, Dree, where Towns are very far apart.”
The boy nodded. He had given that some thought and he was pretty sure that he would be ok. There were many Towns between here and Long Bay.
