She smiled and told him she felt much better now that he was there and that all he needed to get was a chair to sit in. As he pulled a chair up to sit by her, she picked up the book.
“Before we have our little chat, Dree, I want to give you this book. In it, I’ve written many stories that you have not heard before, or if you have heard them, you’ve heard a false version of them. You see, these stories are about me and my travels as a young…and not so young…woman. I had many adventures, Dree, and that is the first lesson a Storyteller must learn: the stories you live are the best stories. It is what you must do when you take my place.”
Dree must have had a really dumbfounded look on his face, because Greaty started to giggle, then laugh out loud. He would have blushed, but he was too busy trying to understand what she had just said. Him, a Storyteller? Going on adventures? Was Greaty Helma some sort of mind reader?
