“You will become my replacement as Storyteller, Dree. It is a very common thing in families who have a Storyteller among them.”
He blinked and managed to get out, “But why me?”
She smiled at that and patted his head. She thought now that she might have eased him into this conversation a bit more smoothly.
“Who else could it be, sweetheart? None of your sisters or brothers cared about my stories. Your cousins are scattered to a dozen different Towns and your parents, aunts & uncles are too old. You are the only one who really loved my stories enough to ask for more.”
