All You Need Is Glove: The Mana Battery

This glove, which I see some of you recognize, is the Mana Battery. It belonged to Venzida the Most Miraculous, and she was the most powerful wizard of her day, 400 years ago. She was immensely talented, creating dozens of new spells that we know and use today.

But as an adventuring spellcaster, she grew frustrated at the rapid pace that she burned up mana in places like Ulmgar’s Dungeon or the Haunted Castle of Ixx. After only a few battles, she would be drained and needing rest.

So she spent two years and a great deal of money to create this glove. It has the power to drain mana from any source, living, undead, inanimate, anything she touched. Of course, this made her a very powerful spellcaster. She also got addicted to draining mana, not unlike a vampire needs to drain blood.

So it was that she assembled a team of adventurers and went looking for Henzex Lankazan, the only wizard more powerful than herself. He was also known to have a vast collection of magical items and artifacts, which would power her for a century or more.

When she and her party entered his treasure room, Henzex offered no opposition. He was, he said, old and sick. He offered his hand to Venzida, telling her that being drained would be a blessing.

And, as it turned out, a curse. When her gloved hand touched his and the mana began coursing into her, the now dying man uttered his wizardly Death Curse.

“Take it ALL, you greedy thing!” And with those words, his other hand grabbed the clasped hands and froze into a thing of stone. Next, all the mana from all the great collection plowed through him and into her. Screaming, she could not break free.

Her surviving team members says that she glowed brighter than the sun, then just disappeared, along with the body of Henzex and all of the collection, leaving only behind this glove. Not knowing what else to do, they picked it up with a long pole, put it in a sack and brought it here.

And there it sits, inside an unbreakable crystal case. Even after all this time, anything even remotely magical touching it would be utterly destroyed, along with a good bit of real estate.
