Places You Forget: The Dream Library
(A tip of the old bandana to Spike Jones for suggesting this theme.)
From a lecture series given at the Adventurers Club of Valduria, by Wizard Gladoria
Most of us here have heard of the Dream Library. Only a slightly smaller number have been there, to sell dreams, or rarely, to borrow one. I have sold a few dreams there, though I couldn’t tell you exactly what they were about, since they are gone from my mind.
For those who aren’t familiar with the Dream Library, it is a place not unlike an ordinary library, where one can sell dreams one no longer wants to have. While the librarians, who look mostly like humans or elves, pay best for dreams that evoke powerful emotions, they do buy dreams that are just odd or sad. I personally sold a recurring dream of seeing a long departed relative, as well as one that involved me sliding down a steep hill naked in the mud.
One finds the Dream Library when you are not actually thinking about it, but are either direly in need of funds or bothered by a dream. You are walking a city street when suddenly, there it is. You go in, do your transaction, leave, and it has vanished. Within one or two minutes, you won’t remember exactly where it was.
Unlike some of the locations we have discussed in this series, finding the Dream Library, when you need to, is not that difficult. Just don’t forget any belongings when you leave, because they are as good as lost.
