Places You Forget: Danigan’s Saloon
(A tip of the old bandana to Spike Jones for suggesting this theme.)
From a lecture series given at the Adventurers Club of Valduria, by Ringles Scarfoot
I must say, I never reckoned that a fellow such as myself would be lecturing such a collection of well known and distinguished group. But, as my old dad used to say, “You never know where you’ll end up, so give it your best try.”
Now, the place I’m going to tell you about is Danigan’s Saloon, which is not a place that the better folk would be seen at, but for folks like me and my associates, it’s like a second home. If you can find it, because I’ll be buggered if I can ever remember where it is.
Mr. Danigan is a fine fellow, and his wife is talented at everything from brewing a proper cup of tea to giving injured folk help, including a young smallman who got an axe to his foot. They pour a wonderful pint and tend to let you alone when you need to discuss business matters.
And it’s such business matters, along with the clientele list, that most of us think is the cause of the forgetting. If we can’t recall how to get there, the Guard or the Queen’s Elite can’t follow us there. I reckon that’s self preservation.
By now you fine folks are wondering how we find Danigan’s if we can’t remember where we left it. Fair enough. You see, when a person needs to go there, they get a flash in the brain that says “Entrance is on Miner’s Way near the corner of Canal Street”, or somesuch. So you go there and you look around and there’s the door and Bob’s your uncle.
Now you’ll have to forgive me, but I have to join some of my friends for a trip downriver to Skelzy. I enjoyed this and bid you all a good night.
