“Trudy, I Love You” was a prime example of a “teenage confession of love” song. Written by singer Tommy Baker and bassist Eddie Adams, both 15 at the time, the song was a big hit during the second semester of their sophomore year of high school. They appeared on several national teen music television shows.
The lyrics are nothing to write home about, but Baker’s singing and the somewhat more inventive guitar work are better than average. The song spent four weeks on the charts, two of those at #2. The next year, the band had a top ten hit with “Big Party Weekend”.
