To Make A Short Story Long: Where We Have Been
(A tip of the old bandana to Riki Bruner for suggesting this theme.)
Short Version
We read the map wrong and got lost.
Long Version
Now that there is an interesting story. As you know, there are very few maps of Eastern Toskalia, and all of them are at least 200 years old, from before the Serpent Wars. Naturally, that meant a trip down to the Sage District to visit Bullinder’s Maps.
So, while Alysa and Thordrik shopped for supplies, and Paulis communed with his god, Orli and I set off map buying. Master Bullinder only had two maps of Eastern Toskalia, one of which was badly water damaged, but the other of which was in rough, but legible condition. After talking him down to 33 golden Hawks, we had the map.
Back at our rooms, I used the Enhanced Legibility spell to make all lines and words on the map stand out. We then copied the map and put the original away for eventual resale. Thus ready with our map, we set off to find the Fountain of Evir for you, Fulrin.
Our problem, which I failed to mention earlier, was that the map was VERY simple, and had no compass points. Additionally, cities were just labeled as “City” and similar simplicity was used for labeling everything else. This presented problems.
Well, yes, Fulrin, you could sum it up like that. We read the map wrong, got lost, and spent three months searching for the fountain. Which we never found.
