Bouncy Blue Bonobos

…boing boing boing

Grace and I went to the SPCA Doggie Dash yesterday. It was jam packed with people and their dogs, most of whom ran or walked in the 5K race. There were booths set up by everyone from dog rescue organizations to pet day care places to a guy who brews & sells non-alcoholic non-carbonated “dog beer”. We say a humongous Great Dane and a Yorkie that was so small he probably weighed less than the Great Danes tongue. Of course, we kept our eye out for Basset Hounds and we saw about 7 of them, including one fine young fellow that had just recently been rescued from near starvation. He was still pretty skinny, but very friendly and healthy looking.

After we left there, we had a bit of lunch, a bit of shopping and then came home. I gardened, Grace puttered around the house and all was right with the world.

And speaking of gardening, we harvested our first green beans…except that they are purple. We haven’t eaten them yet, but it looks like the bushes will be cranking out plenty of them for our cooking and/or freezing pleasure. Yum yum!

And now, I must go plant my zuchinnis, gourds and zinnias. More blog-o-rama later.
