…not as well known as his famous brother
So, I’ve got a couple of ideas for Cheapass Games level card/board games. My question to you, Dear Readers, is: What is the best way to go about making prototypes to send out to playtesters? What about making the final product? I am quite clueless as to these processes.
Well, if they’re Cheapass level items (meaning they’ll use cardstock), then it would seem that making PDFs would be the best route to take. Send those to your playtesters, and have them print them out (with instructions on how to assemble if the board is bigger than 8×10 or legal). If they’re cards, cut them out and paste on the usual cheap notecards you can buy in the store.
This is my advice as well. Although mosr printers cab handle heavier stock paper. The readily available and cheap paper for doing inkjet prints of your photos is heavy enough for playtest versions of card games and even counters (for example it is heavier stock than used for games that came in magazines like the Dragon (Snit’s Revenge the original The Awful Green Things From Outer Space, etc). Saves the messy step of using glue.
If you need something more elaborate than what Elissa is describing, then you may want to look at The Game Crafter. A friend of mine sent be the link recently; he says:
