Altered (United) States: Massachusetts “Battle Zone”
Nowhere in America is the battle between Good & Evil being fought harder than it is in the the Bay State. Great heroes of justice like Doc Kennedy and the Nighthunter go toe to toe with mob thugs (The Purple Hand Gang), crazed scientists (Professor Moritz), supernatural monsters (the Frog Thing of Fall River) and deranged madmen (The Happy Cannibal) all over the state, but especially in and around Boston.
There is little doubt that Massachusetts attracts heroes & villains because of all the scientific study and technological breakthroughs made there, as well as the rich supernatural history of the state. Throw in the vast wealth (citizens are, on average, 2.75 times better off financially than citizens of most other states) and you have a virtual magnet for evil. But where evil goes, good is not far behind and the state also attracts many who fight for the god of all.
It’s fortunate that the state has a huge Special Fund, because much money is spent every year repairing or replacing private and public property that is damaged or destroyed by vile criminals or horrible monsters. The great 1934 battle between Doc Kennedy and The Blue Devil did so much damage that it was not fully repaired until last fall, October, 1937.
