People: The Ghost Women/Las Mujeres Fantasma
In Mexico City on Earth 14-B, it is currently 1965 and the rate of crimes against women was very high until 1962. It was then that 5 women decided to take a stand. They were determined, tough…and they had super powers. They costumed themselves to match their powers and hit the streets. They were soon known as Las Mujeres Fantasma, The Ghost Women.
Description: The Ghost Women are all of average height and weight, with skin tone ranging from light brown to very dark brown. They have athletic builds and range in age from 25 to 31. Their costumes are made to allow free movement while still looking old fashioned and ragged from the grave. They cover any exposed skin with a special powder that makes them look deathly pale.
Their Powers: In 1960, one of the Ghost Women was traveling with her mother to the village of her grandparents, far out in the desert near the New Mexico border. The first night of the drive, they pulled off the road to sleep. Some hours before dawn, she got up to relieve herself and saw a glow coming from just over a small hill. Being a curious person, she went to see what it was and found a UFO. The craft had either crashed or rolled down the hill, because it was pretty banged up. Without thinking, she ran toward it to see if anyone was hurt.
As it turned out, two aliens had been injured, but not badly. The fact that they resembled humanoid cats put her at ease enough to try talking to them. Once they adjusted their translators, they told her they needed to repair their vehicle, but lacked the raw materials. After about an hour of chatting, she and the aliens hatched a plan.
Once she was back home, she got together with some friends and told them she needed a pickup truck and a lot of various items, most of which might be found in trash piles. She decided to not mention the aliens just yet. She did tell her friends that they would be helping a nice couple who were in a real jam. Her friends agreed, and one friend had access to her husbands truck, since he was in jail for selling stolen good and not being able to bribe the judge.
Three days later, they went out to the desert with a truckload of junk and more in the back of one lady’s car. The meeting with the aliens went better than expected, despite initial screaming and panic. The aliens were very glad for the raw materials and promised to reward the women well. Over the next 2 weeks, they brought 4 more loads out.
Before the aliens left, they gave the women several pieces of technology and a device that, when worn, would impart vast amounts of information directly into their brains. What they did with it was up to them. The aliens bid them goodbye and left.
The pieces of technology they use as the Ghost Women are…
Bracelets that allow them to pass through solid matter, so long as it is not too thick or very dense. A foot of steel reinforced concrete is neither of those.
Belts that both allow them to float and deflect anything trying to impact them.
Implants that increase their senses and reflexes.
Another implant that can let them scream in such a way as to induce blind panic in the target.
Using those devices, plus an ever growing web of women they have saved (an idea they got from reading stories about The Shadow), they have caused fear and even terror among men who abuse women and children. And yes, this sometimes means leaving out in the open the bodies of men who died of fright. It’s a highly effective method.
