Things: The Living Crystal
Description: A translucent pale pink crystal, flat, smooth, about 3 inches thick and a foot across. It contains no flaws whatsoever. It is heavier than it looks.
Background: The Living Crystal (TLC from here on) is very old, perhaps a half a million years old. It has been alive for all that time, but has only been sapient for the last 2,000 years or so. Just after becoming self aware, it realized that it could form a bond with living creatures and gain knowledge and sustenance from them. That started it on a path from it’s first host, a too curious bear, to various humanoids, and finally to Lavilliaxinon, the dragon.
The crystal learned things from the intelligent creatures it bonded with, including fighting techniques, stealth, and a few magic spells. It is that last that makes Lavilliaxinon such a deadly opponent. Besides sharing it’s knowledge of fighting, TLC can cast Teleport, Stun and other spells upon foes. That, plus the dragon’s unique breath weapon, mean that he does not lose fights.
At present, TLC is living in the dragon’s chest cavity, taking in nutrition via blood vessels and learning what Lavilliaxinon learns. It is a fine mutual arrangement which neither of them will be ending any century soon.
