Places: The Haunted Graveyard/El Cementerio Embrujado
All heroes need some sort of hidden sanctum, a place to change identities and store their equipment. In a very old, very Catholic city, finding such a place was not difficult for The Ghost Women.
Description: In a very old and very poor part of town, there is an old graveyard that dates back over 300 years. It was declared full in 1780, and declared by the locals to be haunted not long after that. The superstition was kept alive and thriving by everyone from teenage boys to criminal enterprises to packs of feral dogs & cats. By 1930, nobody lived within 100 yards of it, leaving it surrounded by empty houses that are now more like ruins.
It was never a cemetery for anyone but the poor, so the small chapel and the priest’s quarters are all that stand above the tombstones, few that there are left. Once a year in the spring a couple of young priests and a couple of boys from the other side of town come and cut the grass and say a blessing. It is otherwise the very model of a shunned area.
Which is, of course, perfect for 5 crime fighting women who needed a hideout.
Using a couple of the robots that the aliens left then, they found several ancient tunnels that would lead from the home of “Le Noche Tenia” (The Night Hag) to the Haunted Cemetery. Over the course of many months, the robots reinforced and sealed the tunnels, then dug out a large space about 20 feet under the graveyard. Then they built a large room, put in air ducts and made a passage up to the old chapel. Finally, they moved in all the equipment and furnishing needed.
Then the Ghost Women started ramping up the fear factor by playing spooky noises and letting themselves be seen in the area. The capper was when two police officers finally went to check it out and the Ghost Women chased them off, warning them to repent their sins. The cops drove directly to the nearest church and ran to the confessional.
Since that night, no police will actually go to the Haunted Graveyard. Neither will anyone else.
