It Came From The …: Art School

Basic Information: Released in 1962 by American United Films. Running time: 2 hours Overall rating by Critics Anonymous: B+

Synopsis: The good students of State University Art School are working on a large clay statue of President Lincoln. One night, a group of Satan worshiping bikers break into the studio and hold a drunken ritual that accidentally brings the statue to life. After killing them all and absorbing the calcium from their bodies, the unfinished statue breaks through a wall and walks out into the night. After many more killings, the art students must team up with the science students to stop the now 20 foot tall living statue.

Review:
Despite the overall goofy premise, this is actually a pretty good movie. The creature effects are a mix of a very well done man in a suit and better than average stop motion. The acting is good, as is the direction. The whole thing moves along briskly, with a nice mix of scares and humor. Extra points for some great early 60s rock & roll tunes.
