High Jursik
To give you an idea of what this land is like, imagine the United States under the iron fist of conservatives fascists. The rights of ordinary citizens are restricted, all government agencies are corrupt, the military is everywhere, and the rulers are paranoid. It is also a poor country.
While the government has no power over travelers on The Road, things will be very different if you leave The Road. The river is heavily patroled and river traffic is taxed heavily. For this reason, most trade leaves the river and goes by overland trade route around High Jursik.
Mages, non-humans, and women are not trusted or welcome in High Jursik. It is possible to buy food along The Road here, but it’s very dangerous for the sellers.
The Road runs 110 miles through this terrible place. It is made of white sand.
