Variations On A Theme: The Neverending Trek

Techno Accurate Trek

Let’s face it, in the REAL 23rd/24th century, a lot of things will be VERY different than Star Trek depicts them. Computers will be smaller, possibly organic, and much more powerful. Robots, who may be self aware, will do all the boring or dangerous work on a starship. Nanotech will be used for lots of things, most likely including medicine, weapons and self repairing hulls.

Genetic engineering will make humans healthier and more adaptable to many living conditions. Hell, just LIVING on places like Mars or the Moon will alter human physiology after a few generations. And much to Commander Data’s joy, androids will probably be a lot more common.

Running a Trek series with altered technology will probably not change how the basic adventures might go, but it will certainly give the GM/Players some interesting new ideas.
