New Cryptids: Desert Bigfoot

Although sightings of bigfoot-like creatures are not rare in the desert southwest, this particular version is, so far, the one least viewed by humans.

“Desert Bigfoot”, as it is called, stands out from other sasquatch sightings in a few ways. For one, it has only ever been sighted in mountainous terrain far from human habitations. The species range is huge, from Death Valley in the west to southeastern New Mexico, and from southern Colorado, Utah, and Nevada in the north, to at least 50 miles south of the Mexican border.

Another oddity is that it has fur that blends in very well with the desert background. Indeed, the only times it has been seen clearly is when it has been walking along a ridge with the sky in the background, or on one occasion, as it passed through a burned off area.

There are exactly three photographs of Desert Bigfoot, all shot quickly and all from a long distance off. About all that can be learned from them is that the creature is a biped with a build like similar creatures.

Much more informative is the 11 second video taken by Frank DiCicco in Arizona on July 10th, 2023. Although also taken from a long distance, it shows the the creature passsing through a burn scar on a hillside. At one point, it passes in front of a burned off tree stump, obscuring it for a moment. When DiCicco and his wife went to check the height of the stump, they found it was 10 feet tall, giving the bigfoot a roughly equal height. Better yet, not 3 feet in front of it, and extending all the way across the burn scar, were footprints of a size that were larger than any other creature of the same type.

Several groups go on regular Desert Bigfoot hunts, many using drone cameras. To this date, they have not actually found the creature.
